Photo Page - May 24 Filming @ Wrigley
While the Cubs are in California, Hollywood came to Wrigley Field for the filming of a scene from “The Express”, a movie about Ernie Davis, the first african-american man to win the Heisman Trophy, was drafted first overall in the 1962 NFL draft, and tragically died of leukemia before playing in a single pro game.
According to Wikipedia -
Davis would never play a game as a professional, with his only appearance at Cleveland Stadium coming during a 1962 pre-season game, in which he ran onto the field as a spotlight followed him. Following his death, the Browns retired his number 45 jersey in honor of Davis.
This could very well be what they are filming at Wrigley. There were a number of actors dressed as football players, including Bears players. I don’t know if Wrigley is standing in for Cleveland Stadium or it is actually supposed to be Wrigley where the Bears played from 1921-1970.
It was weird to see Wrigley lit up without the overhead lights being on.
